Setting up a PowerBI using a Client External Sharepoint Data

I am trying to link my Sharepoint to an external client one. I used the option to 'Get Data' from Sharepoint and removed all text from 'AllItems' on for the root folder. . I keep getting the ODdata error issue and clear out my permissions when I refresh through Settings>Data Source Settings. Any ideas? Microsoft account does not work for this and then get this error: Details: "SharePoint: Request failed: Unable to connect to the remote server"Capture.PNG

I'm not sure what you mean by "I am trying to link my Sharepoint to an external client one."

But if you're using SharePoint Online you definitely need to use organizational account type, not Windows. Windows would be for on-premise.

If you're trying to connect to an external SharePoint instance, I've not tried that before - I'm assuming that the account you're using has at least read access to the root SharePoint site you're trying to connect to?

Sorry. I am trying to use the 'Get Data' option to a client's external sharepoint. When I normally do Get Data and it is to an internal company Sharepoint, I have the option to do Organizational, but I do not here for some reason. I am thinking I might not have root access, but wanted to make sure there was nothing else I could have missed.

Yes, sorry, I meant Microsoft account - that's the one you want to use for SPO. I would try visiting the SP URL with those credentials in a browser to make sure you have the correct access.
