Hi All,
I'm very new to Power BI, and am building my first report template, which I will use for our Senior Management meetings. Given what I've seen from the videos, and from what I've read on the website, I'm super excited to be using this tool.
Currently I'm trying to filter a graph, which is showing the delivery of items for a new operation. I want the graph to show:
A) Delivery of items (MTD) (%)
B) Previously forecasted delivery of items MTD (%)
C) Forecast for delivery items till years end (%)
I have 3 columns uploaded to the database showing the accumulation of these numbers, but C) is being hindered because I am setting a filter to limit dates to the end of July, which is in turn effecting the graph for C).
Is there a way to seperate a filter so it only effects one graph, or is there a way to show all 3 lines on the graph, where lines A) & B) cut off in July, but line C) cuts off at another predesigned date?
To give an example of how this was uploaded to my app from excel:
Del Date | Forecasted Line Item (MTD) | Forecast MTD % | Forecasted Line Item (TTL) | Forecast % | Line Item Delivered (TTL) | Line Item % |
8/19/2016 | 1 | 0.01% | 1 | 0.01% | 1 | 0.01% |
8/29/2016 | 1 | 0.02% | 1 | 0.02% | 1 | 0.02% |
8/29/2016 | 1 | 0.04% | 1 | 0.04% | 1 | 0.04% |
8/29/2016 | 1 | 0.05% | 1 | 0.05% | 1 | 0.05% |
8/29/2016 | 1 | 0.06% | 1 | 0.06% | 1 | 0.06% |
8/29/2016 | 1 | 0.07% | 1 | 0.07% | 1 | 0.07% |
9/1/2016 | 1 | 0.09% | 1 | 0.09% | 1 | 0.09% |
9/1/2016 | 1 | 0.10% | 1 | 0.10% | 1 | 0.10% |
9/1/2016 | 1 | 0.11% | 1 | 0.11% | 1 | 0.11% |
9/1/2016 | 1 | 0.12% | 1 | 0.12% | 1 | 0.12% |
9/1/2016 | 1 | 0.14% | 1 | 0.14% | 1 | 0.14% |
Would really appreciate the help on this!
Cheers,
M
HI @MJB2017,
>>Is there a way to seperate a filter so it only effects one graph,
You can open the interaction layout to manage these filter effect.
In addition, I try to turn on the forecast feature to enable on your data, but power bi notice me these data are too irregular to analysis forecast data.

Hi @v-shex-msft,
Thanks for your quick reply! What about if i wanted to combine two sets of information on a graph, but limit the dates of one set of data?
For example, I have a MTD Actual, which I want to put on the forecast for the year.
FORECAST would show Jan - December
MTD Actual should show Jan - July; but on my chart it continues to run at a flat line all the way to the end of the year. Currently I have this set as MAX on values, in order to show the overall % per month, but it obviously runs flat after July becuase there is no data yet.
I think this might be the easiest solution. Do you have any input on this?
Cheers!
M

Forecast can support on this scenario, you should modify your date to let it more regular to analysis. For instance, date interval modify to hourly, daily, weekly, monthly....
