Selection offset from mouse cursor - Cannot select visuals properly

Hello all,

We are using a PowerBI Pro lisence to host reports in our organization. The reports point to a PowerBI Dataset that is refreshed every day.

The reports appear to be malfunctioning in a manner that they did not malfunction before. When the user tries to select visuals in the online service, the selection prompt does not follow the cursor accurately. The below figure illustrates the problem (I had to insert where the cursor was as it was not captured by the snapshot). As you can see, the user cannot select anywhere to the right of the line on the left side of the visual.

This is not the behaviour of the report when it is downloaded on Desktop. It seems to work properly there:

Does someone have any advice on how to correct for this? I tried re-uploading the report on an updated version of PowerBI Desktop.

Thank you,

C

I have recieved a phone call from Microsoft Support, and since I don't see many other posts about this issue, I will provide my findings here.

There appears to be a bug between the online service and the internet browsers 'Chrome' and 'Edge'. Microsoft is working on the issue on their end.

My solution:

I am using 'Mozilla Firefox' as a work around as the reports seem to work as designed in that browser.

I hope this helps.

This is a summary of the email I received from support:

Below is a summary of the support request for your records:
Symptom:

Visuals are buggy in online service - Selection is offset from mouse cursor.

Action:
As mentioned, you are facing issue with visuals are buggy in the online service. When the user hovers their mouse cursor over a normal line graph, the selection prompt on the visual is offset from the cursor. This makes it impossible for the user to select a particular point on the line graph, or see via the tooltip functionality what the values are along the line graph.

We investigated the issue and found that this is a known issue going on with us.

Background:
Latest Edge and Chrome browsers, both version 93 due to being based off of the same new version of Chromium, seems to interpret our CSS transform scale settings incorrectly. We are working to determine if it is a browser bug, or something we need to fix in our code.

Symptoms:
Most obvious is slicer and filter dropdowns, date pickers, etc. that do not appear in the proper place. Line charts also use the scale to show a special tooltip, with a vertical indicator line, and this is not following the mouse correctly – at times, you cannot even get a tooltip for one edge of your chart.
(first one has multiple duplicates attached already)

Workaround:
Viewing the report without scaling, Page View – Actual Size, will work correctly. But this is not a great workaround as you need Edit permissions to change it, and most authors prefer Page View – Fit to Page.
