When I open another new PowerBI file and keep my localization setting, the Grouping option is there - everything else unchanged

Might be a coincidence, but something looks unstable.
Thanks!

Hi @alexrobe ,

Thank you for engaging with the Microsoft Fabric Community. We’ve reviewed the situation and it appears the issue is connected to the specific .pbix file, not the application or language settings, since grouping works in a new file with the same settings. @Ritaf1983 , confirmed that the grouping feature works correctly when using the English version of Power BI Desktop

This can happen if unsupported visuals like tables or slicers are selected, or if there’s a temporary glitch or layout issue in the report.

To address this, please try the following steps

1. Make sure you’re selecting visuals that allow grouping, such as text boxes, shapes, images, or charts.

2. Copy the affected visuals into a new .pbix file to see if the grouping option works there.

3. Clear the Power BI Desktop cache by closing Power BI and deleting the files in the cache folder.

Thanks for your prompt response, @Ritaf1983 , @lbendlin .

If the problem continues after these steps, you can share a sample .pbix file where the issue occurs, and we’ll look into it further.

Regards,

Yugandhar.

Thank you very much for taking your time.
Both scenarios came from a fresh PowerBI file. Maybe it was a temporary glitch. It had nothing to do with visual type. To me it looked like it was for some reason disabled in the PowerBI desktop program.
I went with another new file and looked at the behaviour first before continuing.
Fine for me, issue closed. Thanks again!

Hi @alexrobe
Please try reinstalling the new  pbi desktop version and check if the issue is resolved.
If the problem persists, you can report it  as an issue using the provided link.
https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues

I tested it on my machine with the English version, and everything is working properly.
I recommend attaching a link to the PBIX file in the report for further investigation.

If this post helps, then please consider Accepting it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly
