Hi everyone, I’m working on a Power BI matrix visual and trying to restructure it for better readability and comparison. Currently, I have:
Rows: State Names
Columns: Policy Type (NB, Renewal)
Values: Measures for GWP and GEP
This layout shows NB and Renewal as top-level columns, with GWP and GEP nested underneath. However, I want to flip the hierarchy so that GWP and GEP appear first, and NB and Renewal are nested below each like this:
GWP
→ NB
→ Renewal
GEP
→ NB
→ Renewal
This would make it easier to compare GWP vs GEP across policy types.
Constraints:
GWP and GEP are measures, so I can’t place them in the Columns section directly.
Policy Type is a column, so I can’t move it to Values.
I’d prefer not to create new DAX measures or use SWITCH logic.
Is there a way to achieve this layout—either through Power Query (e.g., unpivoting), custom visuals, or formatting tricks—without writing new DAX formulas?
Thanks in advance!

@SD17 , You can use a calculation group, which allows a measure to use as a dimension, and you can move that around
Calculation Groups- Measure Slicer, Measure Header Grouping, Measure to dimension conversion. Complex Table display : https://youtu.be/qMNv67P8Go0
