Seeking Feedback: Demo Presentation on Converting Tableau Reports to Power BI

Dear Power BI Community,

DEMO PPT

DEMO CONTENT TO TALK

I'm reaching out for your valuable feedback on a demo presentation I'm preparing for my upcoming session on converting Tableau reports to Power BI.

Presentation Details:

- Title: Converting Tableau Reports to Power BI
- Audience: CEO, management, technical team
- Presenter: Manoj Prabhakar, BI Developer at Pointel, a Genesys Partner specializing in Contact Center solutions

Background:
In our industry, we face challenges with our current Tableau reports, particularly in handling big data, data export, security, cost, performance, and custom visuals. We believe that transitioning to Power BI could address these limitations and greatly benefit our customers.

Audience Information:
It's important to note that my audience, consisting of the CEO, management, and technical team, boasts over 20 years of experience in Genesys Contact Center and Genesys reporting. However, they have zero knowledge about Power BI. Therefore, I need to be prepared to answer all their questions related to Power BI and Tableau. Their main focus is understanding how Power BI can deliver more value to customers compared to Tableau.

Recent Conversations with On-Site Manager:
During our last meeting, our onsite manager, raised several important questions about Power BI. Here are the answers to those questions, which I believe will be relevant for our upcoming demo:

1. Training and Exposure: I self-learned Power BI through resources like YouTube and Microsoft documentation.
2. Duration of Experience: I've been working with Power BI for approximately 3 months.
3. Comparison of Skills: I'm confident in both Tableau and Power BI, particularly in report building.
4. Infrastructure and Deployment: Power BI is more cloud-based compared to Tableau's server setup.
5. Consultants and Support: We haven't engaged any external consultants for Power BI.
6. Differentiating Power BI Features: Power BI offers custom charts in the free version and integrates well with Microsoft products like SQL Server.
7. User Access and Security: User creation and access management in Power BI are areas I plan to explore further.
8. Migration of Reports: All CXi tableau reports have been migrated, but some Tableau-specific functionalities are being worked on.
9. Future Preparedness and Scope for Improvement: I'm keeping track of pending tasks, maintaining my one-week target, and preparing for an internal demo next week.
10. Additional Insights: My On-Site Manager emphasized the importance of being prepared for future client demos and ongoing improvement in Power BI skills.

Request for Feedback:
I've attached both the PowerPoint presentation and a Word document containing the content I plan to present. I would greatly appreciate your insights on what to add, remove, or modify to ensure a successful demo.

Your expertise and feedback would be immensely valuable in refining this presentation and ensuring its effectiveness in showcasing the capabilities of Power BI for our CXI efforts.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions.

Manoj Prabhakar

Hi @manoj_0911 ,

Given the background and audience details you've provided, here are a few suggestions to enhance your presentation:

1. Highlight Power BI's Integration Capabilities. Refer: List of all Power Query connectors - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

2. Interactive Prototyping Sessions: Considering the technical proficiency of your audience, it might be beneficial to include a live or recorded demo of an interactive prototyping session using Power BI Desktop. This can help validate calculations, clarify visual layout needs, and confirm report presentation, offering a practical glimpse into the transition process. Refer: Power BI usage scenarios: Prototyping and sharing - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

3.Addressing User Access and Security: Since you plan to explore user creation and access management further, it might be helpful to outline Power BI's capabilities in these areas briefly. Discussing topics like Row-Level Security (RLS) could reassure your audience about the robust security measures Power BI offers.
