SSAS MD Filter/Slicer on Current/Previous Time Period

We're working on recreating legacy reports in Power BI using SSAS Live Connect.  We're looking for a way to have them automatically roll forward at the beginning of a new period, be it year, quarter, month, etc.

Yes, we know we could do this with an import.  We need to add a calculation to the SSAS cubes to provide this functionality.

What we've tried so far:

Added current & previous hierarchies to the time dimension.  These work for regular measures, but break with any calculated measures that use the regular time dimension hierarchy.

Has anyone encountered this before?  What could we add to the cubes to select a relative date in Connect Live?

We need to use Connect Live to the SSAS cubes, not import.  Can't do caluclations with Connect Live.
