SQL server gets slower when I am doing transformation on power query/ loading data.

Hello guys, anyone having same issue with me? I am connected  to the SQL server of a virtual machine. 

The connection gets slower and sometimes request time out whenever I do something on the power query or load data. but when I am doing nothing (idle), the ping gets really low.

Also, if the gateway runs on a different machine from the SQL database server(vm). Please see  if there is any network issue causing the slow loading.
