SQL STATEMENT - LEFT()

Hello.. I wanted to pull the first 4 characters from a data field (Z_ID) in an external datasource (ODBC) with the following statement.

SELECT LEFT(Z_ID, 4) as SEA from TK_SEASON;

I have been successful in connecting to the ODBC and extracting data using SQL except with the above statement.

Kindly advise if there's anything wrong with the syntax. Thank you.

Error message as follows:

Details: "ODBC: ERROR [S1000] [Rocket U2][U2ODBC][1401263]Error ID: 46  Severity: ERROR  Facility: DBCAPERR - UCI Error. Func: SQLPrepare(DML); State: S1000; U2 Database code: 950088; Msg: [U2][SQL Client][UNIVERSE]UniVerse/SQL: syntax error.  Unexpected symbol.  Token was "left". Scanned command was FROM "TK.SEASON" "TK.SEASON-HSCORL0" SELECT ALL left ."

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

I am connecting to Rocket UniVerse database via U2 64-bit ODBC Driver. I have no problem connecting to all the fields (for example: Select * from TK_SEASON;). Thanks.

No clue if that is fully SQL compatible either the database or the driver.
