Is there a way to control how much data is being pulled into Power BI from a SAP BW query? For instance, our system has data available from 2012 to current. I only need to pull in 2016-2017 data. I would like to be able to control the date range in the connection process so that the download is much quicker. It is currently waisting time pulling in 2012-15 data I do not want and have to filter out of my results.

Hi @Anonymous,
by filtering the data this way will it speed up the process of refreshing the data from BW?
Yes, it will speed up the process of refreshing by filtering the data from BW this way(instead of loading the entire set of rows into the Power BI Desktop data model).

This might not answer your specific question, but you should take a look at the Simplement Data Liberator.
This platform surfaces SAP tables effortlessly and in real-time. You can define exactly what you want to bring over. It places all these tables directly into SQL Server, ready for Power BI.

Hi @Anonymous,
In this scenario, you can filter on your date column in Query Editor to specify a set of rows which you want to be finally brought into the Power BI Desktop data model.
Select the date column you want to filter on.
Click the down arrow ( ).
