Row wise calculation and make sum of this conditional rows show or reflect on grand total

one.png

Hi there,

I was working on preparing a report. While working, I was using the default formula for every rows - Closing Balance - Opening Balance. But for Add/Less: Non-cash items I want to make the value +ve. The data -23994 is the default value but I need to make it positive as in testing column - 23,994. I've used the switch function to change, but it works for the row only. While I minimize or drill up the category i.e. Cashflow from Operating Activities, it won't reflect the changed data.

(Summary: Use if condition on measure and make this condition's value sum up on grand total in report table)

I get same result as :

Hi @santossssshhh ,

As @Greg_Deckler  said, it's a matter of measure.

Please refer to my steps.

Create a new measure based on before.

result = var _a = 'table'[measure]
var _b = SUMMARIZE('table','table'[category],"aaa",'table'[measure])
return
IF(HASONEVALUE('table'[category]),_a,SUMX(_b,[aaa]))

You can replace the category field with a field unique to the table, such as index, date, etc.

This worked finally after trying different ways:
First, create the conditional measure and secondly use this measure in new measure where we can sum up values in the rows based on the condition and get grand total based on those conditional rows.
First measure :

Testing_conditon =
IF(SELECTEDVALUE(cashflow[mini_category_id]) = 2, ABS(cashflow[closing_bal] - [op_bal]),
    IF(SELECTEDVALUE(cashflow[mini_category_id]) = 11,  [op_bal] - 0,
    cashflow[closing_bal]  - [op_bal]))

Second measure :

cashflow =
var result =
        SUMMARIZE(cashflow,cashflow[mini_category],
        "Cashflow", [Testing_conditon])
RETURN SUMX(result,[Testing_conditon])

Then we can use the second measure on the report table. The output is as expected but one problem is there is performance while changing months using month slicer. It takes 7-9 seconds to load the data when I change months to view data of different months.
Can anyone help me with this ?

This looks like a measure totals problem. Very common. See my post about it here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/DAX-Commands-and-Tips/Dealing-with-Measure-Totals/td-p/63376
