Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone can please help me with this query. To be honest, I'm not sure that a solution exists, but I'll ask the question anyway!
I have a Power BI report that contains several slicers. The options on these slicers change a table visual on another page in the report containing customer postal addresses and email addresses. The data can then be exported as normal.
However, under UK law, we can only mail or email contacts who have requested to be contacted. I have therefore included a Communication Preference slicer on the report that contains all our different contact preferences. However, I can't find a way to make an option on this slicer mandatory before the user is able to export data. So, to put it another way, I'd like to restrict the ability to export the data unless an option (only 1 option) on the Communication Preference slicer has been selected.
Another way around this, might be to show the table visual as blank unless an option in the Communication Preference slicer is ticked, but I'm also unsure if that's possible.
Is it possible to do either of these options somehow, or is there a workaround that I could use?
Many thanks,
Jon

Hi @jonclay , yes this will work, put a slicer on the second page that will only have Option1 selcted. copy it to the first page where your table is. Sync the two slicers. Then hide the second slicer using the selection pane under the View menu. The user will not see it, and the table will only show the Option1 people. Pictures to follow.
Let me know if you have any questions.
If this solves your issues, please mark it as the solution, so that others can find it easily. Kudos 👍are nice too.

Hi @Nathaniel_C
Many thanks for your messages. Yes, this seems to work 🙂
Thanks so much.
Jon
You might want to hide the page that the communication slicer is on, then the user will only ever see the restricted values.

Hi @jonclay  Here are the pictures - sorry in reverse order, the bottom one is the original unfiltered table.
