Request: Authenticated POST to REST Web service as a data source within PowerBI Desktop

We are trying to find out how to user PowerBI desktop to use a POST method with a username and password in order to connect to a web service as our data source.  First question: Is this even supported with PowerBI desktop as of March 2023?  Second Question: We are struggling to find examples or tutorials on how to do this...the articles found don't exactly match the product UI or our scenario.
