Remove the data source

Hi,

How can I remove previous data sources in Power BI Desktop.

Actually I am getting an error when I try to connect to Oracle Database since morning, actually we upgrade database and add new port to the database.

Since then I am getting following error.

Is there anyone else encountered the same thing before?

Hi @jibran,

You can remove the data sources in the current file or previous used data sources in desktop. You can go to File-> Options and settings-> Data source settings loike below:

How this actually explains how to disconnect from a data source escapes me...

Hi,

On your Power bi Desktop Go to File -> Options and Settings -> Data Source Settings.

It will take you to the data source page there you can delete the data base source.

Click on edit permission which will open another pop up that allows you to delete the source as shownData Base Deletion.PNG

This is misinformation you clearly have an option to delete credentials not remove the source.  Why did you post this?

I do not have those options. Thoughts?

I have a similar problem and was hoping you could help.

I have 2 data sources in the Data Source Settings page (like the one in your image). And the sources are the same except one is in all caps and one isn't. For some reason Power BI sees these 2 as distinct even though the connection strings are identical (password and uname). Because of this the Delete command is just ignored. I tried deleting either and realized I can try deleting both at the same time but nothing works.

Any ideas?

I had the same issue, and it turned out that half of my data was pointing to a file path in one format (full UNC path), and the other data was pointing to a file path with my coded file server name. e.g., "Z:\".

If you Right Click-> Advanced Editor on your Query in the transofrm window, it will show you the path of your selected query, which you can then normalize to your preferred format.

Hi @jibran,

in Edit queries window, you delete your query.
