Remove rows or new filtered table

Hi all

I need a bit of help please with a bit of a conumdrum.

I have two tables, one with Students details, such as StudentID, Name, Postcode, Leaving date and the other with Attendance marks for each student. The two tables are joined with a relationship of 1-many (1 record in the Student details table has many records in the Attendance Marks table) using the Student ID.

Some Students in the Students details table have Leaving dates. I need to remove these students from the Attendance Marks table but keep them in the Student Details table.

I have been trying to figure out what is the best way to do this but cannot seem to get to a suitable answer. Can I write a DAX expression to remove the rows from the Attendance Marks table where a Students Leaving date is not NULL or can I create a new table filtered from the Attendance Marks table again where the Students Leaving date is not NULL. Or is there a much better and easier way to do this? I would be really grateful for advice on the best way to achieve this please?

Below are screen shots of the two tables (please note all details within them are completely ficticious)

@Simon_Evans Few ways to achieve this, in PQ, merge student details with the attendance table, get the leaving date from the student table, and then filter where leaving date is blank, it will remove rows from the attendance table.

Or, you can use DAX, get the leaving date from the student table, and filter your page or your measure where leaving date is blank.

@parry2k Thank you. I was missing the rather obvious step of merging in just the one column.
