Hi
I have tried to find an aswer to this problem, which ought to be a very simple task.
I want my text box to fit this blue space. In an earlier report I made, the line spacing was removed, but now I cannot insert the text box from the old file, without Power BI adding these line spaces.
Since it seemed to work on the old file (which is no longer an option to update), I tried to take a snapshot of the text box, save it and insert it as an image. This did not go so well, as you can see:
I have noticed that the submitted idea to fix these text boxes has been in Microsofts backlog for 8 (!) years without them fixing this issue. So I very much hope that someone can help me come up with a solution to this, as it is really annoying.
Thanks in advance,
Magnus
Hi @KEAlexander ,
Thanks for the suggestions. I know the shift + enter trick, but it has no effect here unfortunately.
Unless there is a way to solve this that I have missed, I really don't have any options other than to cut down the text volume, which is kind of unsatisfying. I tried seperating the text blocks into several text boxes, but due to the line spacing, you have to make the text box very broad unless you want to scrollbar to appear. So that's not an option either.
This is what I am left with. Does Microsoft really not have any solutions to this simple problem?
There might be hidden troublesome characters. So you could copy the text to NotePad or NotePad++ and make sure it is exactly as you want, then copy to a newly created text box. Sometimes using Word or other apps will cause issues. Hope this helps.
Hi @KEAlexander
Unfortunately it does not solve the problem. For info I run this version of Power BI: Version: 2.121.762.0 64-bit (september 2023). Maybe I have overlooked some formatting settings, but I haven't seen any ooptions that could help...
Okay- another thing to look at is extra spaces. Are there extra spaces at the end of each line, causing the line to wrap?
Sometimes holding down the shift key when you hit enter will prevent the extra line space. So remove the line feeds/carriage returns to make the lines all run together, then position your cursor where you want the new line to begin, hold down the shift key and hit enter.
