Remote Name could not be resolved Eu3.Salesforce.com

I am using the latest version of Power BI Desktop.  Whenever I connect to "Salesforce Objects" I can connect to Salesforce, and often see a list of Salesforce objects and on occasion I am able to load data.  However everytime,at somepoint, I will recieve an error stating that Power BI cannot resolve the DNS name for the Salesforce instance I am trying to connect to.  e.g. "The Remote name coluld not be resolved "eu3.salesforce.com".  Has anyone experienced this? and know what the resolution may be?

Hi @GavReekie were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi @GavReekie,

In your scenario, when the error throws out, please access Salesforce site to check if the issue is occurring on Salesforce side. Also please use Fiddler to monitor traffic between Power BI and Salesforce, check if you can find any useful information. You can enable tracing on Power BI Desktop to find what's happening: Power BI Desktop Trace Logs Analyser.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu
