Relationship between an appended table and a calculated table

In the below screenshot you will see that I have the following tables:

  • Worldwide Headcount (append of each unique academic year)
  • Worldwide Registrations (append of each unique academic year)
  • Completed Courses (table calculated from the Worldwide Registrations Table)
  • Worldwide Plans by College (Reference table for the names of degree programs)

I need to make it so that when using the fields in the "Completed Courses" table I can leverage the below from the table "Worldwide Headcount":

  • age groups
  • Gender Descr
  • Ethnicity (IPEDS)
  • Acad Year End Acad Org Descr
  • Acad Year End Acad Plan Descr

from the "Worldwide Headcount" table.  Is this possible?  I thought about appending the Worldwide Headcount Table and the Worldwide Registration Table but sense they are appendages of other tables I didn't know if it was wise to append an append especially with the individual files being updated with information daily that make up the two appended tables.

When going to the query view I don't see a way to append the calculated table to the Worldwide Headcount Table.  I am assuming the calculated table doesnt appear in the query view because it was calculated?

Hi,

  1. It’s possible. You just need to create a relationship between “Completed Courses” and "Worldwide Headcount". Maybe using “Student ID” is a good idea. It looks like you need a Student Table with full and unique students.
  2. It’s a good idea to use “Append” when you have two tables with same contents (same or similar headers) but different records (rows). This will count two tables as one.
  3. Yes, a calculated table has no query.
  4. Change the “cross filter direction” to both.Relationship between an appended table and a calculated table02.jpg
