Refreshing Data that has been published w.r.t shopify

I am fairly new to Power BI, so please bare with me if I am asking something silly. The shopify connector is for the desktop only. So, how do I create a dashboard on the online service ? and if thats not possible, I can create reports on the desktop and publish the data set and then share the dashbioard I make out of that data set. But is it possible to show live data on the dashboard I am sharing. The refresh schedule will update the data set on my desktop app but will it also update something that I have published and then shared?

Hi @Nikhill90  You can build the report in PBI desktop and publish it  on Power Service, there you can set the automatic refresh. Since there is no native Shopify connector for PBI, you can use an external connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supemetrics (which doesn't have PBI as a destination, so you first have to export to Google Sheets and then export to PBI) and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Shopify connector in the data sources list:

After that, you need to follow instructions and install the windsor.ai app from the Shopify App Store:

then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Shopify fields

SHOPIFY-2.jpg

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

I previously used this solution to extract shopify data to Azure SQL database and then connect it to power bi desktop: https://vidi-corp.com/shopify-power-bi-connector

You could then refresh the data in Power BI Server using a data gateway
