Refreshing Data From Excel

I am building a Power BI report from one network  shared Excel file.  I plan to put the Excel file through mutiple modifications in my application, new measures, new columns, etc... maybe even break it up into a start schema data model to normalize.  When I eventually run my refresh will I have to repeat any of those calculations or data modeling steps?  Will the refresh wipe out any fields, calculations, or data modeing I created off the original Excel file ?

@Dbuck44 , Refresh will just add the new data, septs, Measure and columns will remain.
