Refresh cant be scheduled data set doesn't contain data model
- Anonymous4 years ago
Hi Anonymous ,
As AllisonKennedy suggested, you can store your CSV file in OneDrive or SharePoint so that Power BI will automatically connect to the file and refresh any changes with the dataset in Power BI. You can review the document below to get more details. However, based on your previous reply it seems that this method is not supported on your end.
Refresh a dataset created from a .CSV file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online
As mentioned in the error message, since this is a worksheet and not loaded into the model, there is no way to configure a scheduled refresh... You can try to connect the CSV file in Power BI Desktop, then transform data to generate the model, and to create the report. After that, you can publish the report to Power BI Service.Since the CSV file is on-premise, you need to install and configure a gateway first. Please note that keep the gateway online. Then add the source to the gateway and configure the schedule refresh. You can refer the following documentations.
The Power BI Gateway; All You Need to Know
Install and register gateway
Add gateway data source
Configure schedule refresh
Best Regards
Thanks for the response AllisonKennedy .
Yes it works with sharepoint,as per our requirement we are not supposed to use sharepoint/one drive as a data source. It has to work with flat files in network drive.
Anonymous In that case you will need a Gateway.
