I am having refresh issues in my PowerBI desktop while I am trying to manually refresh the report. The error is like below:

shreep1_0-1707845161774.png

I am guessing the error is due to incorrectly putting my credentials-username and password under this:

Please let me know if my guess in correct or there are some other unknown reasons leading to this error?

Thanks,

@shreep1 , I hope the connection is already saved. Go to Home Tab -> Transform Data -> Data Source Connections -> Then use edit permission either under Current file or Global and uncheck Encrypt connection.

Hi, @shreep1

Based on the error message you provided, there does appear to be an issue with the credentials you are using to connect to the SQL database. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the potential issue:

1. Update Power BI Desktop, make sure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop.
2. Switch the connection type and try to switch the connection type from MSFT account to Windows authentication: Open Power BI Desktop. click File, and then go to Options and Settings > Data Source Settings. "Data Source Settings. Select the SQL Server instance that is causing the problem from the list of data sources. Click the Edit Permissions button at the bottom of the prompt screen. Switch the connection type to Windows Authentication. This workaround has helped others overcome similar SSL-related errors
3. Check the trusted root certificate to verify that the certificate used by SQL Server is located in the trusted root certificate authority store of the computer running the Data Management Gateway. You can use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to view the trusted root store and add a Certificate Management Unit 2.
4. import the SSL certificate. contact your SQL Server database administrator for an SSL certificate.
Import the certificate into the client computer where Power BI Desktop is installed.
