RANKX Circular Reference Error

I am getting a circular reference error in my RANKX column

AreaCluster Rank =

RANKX(

    FILTER(

        ALL('Table'),

        'Table'[Area] = EARLIER('Table'[Area])

    ),

    [Table Overall Score],, DESC, Skip)

[Table Overall Score] measure is basically a sum of other columns (i.e. the overall score)

I am not sure what the problem is. I checked stackedoverflow and this forum (like this one Solved: RANKX Circular Reference Help - Microsoft Fabric Community and Solved: RANKX with groups - Microsoft Fabric Community), and my formula is aligned with the accepted answers (I also tried simply using 'Table' instead of All('Table') to be sure). I have another data table for a different page that uses the exact same RANKX formula and it succeeds without error. Don't understand why this particular data and RANKX doesn't work.

Is it something in my data? Is it because of the PowerBI November'23 update? 

Please help, I am not sure what is causing this, much less the solution

"[Table Overall Score] measure is basically "<-- this will be the problem.  It is not a good idea to use measures in calculated column definitions.  Measures are dynamic and for visuals. They can give results in columns but not a good idea.
