R and Python visualizations in PBI service (Script Runtime Error)

Hello, I want to use R visual or Python one, doesn't matter, I'm using the packages that are supported in PBI and it works in desktop version, however, it doesn't work in PBI service(online workspace). My data is taken from MySQL db from remote server, can it be a problem that break the visual? If not, what it can be?

Hi @Anonymous

Check whether the package versions are supported in Power BI Service: Learn which R packages are supported - Power BI. The version of R deployed in the Power BI service is also probably different from that on your local computer: Create and use R visuals in Power BI - Power BI

According to the R error message, it seems the issue is caused by data. Did you connect to the MySQL DB via Import or DirectQuery? Does this error happen right after you publish the pbix to PBI Service? Did you refresh the dataset before having this error?

I connect MySQL DB via DirectQuery, I have the issue right after publishing, I didn't refresh the dataset

Hi @Anonymous

Did you add the same MySQL DB to a gateway and choose that gateway for this dataset in Power BI Service? Since it has DirectQuery tables, you need to use an on-premises data gateway for Power BI Service to get data from the data source if this data source is not in the cloud.
