Hi,
I am importing data from an SQL server, formatting it and then sedning the formatted data to multiple people to create their own reports. I am confused on the formatting portion though.
For an example I have the ability to open Query Editor and rename a column but I can also do this in the Desktop app as well. Is there a best practice for this?
If I rename the column within the desktop app (as opposed to the query editor) will the changes persist for other users that update the data daily?
I am looking for guidence on best practices for formtatting data either directly in the tables vs using the query editor.
Another example is when I format a field in Query Editor to date type it doesn't allow me to show the date in the format "Day-of-Week, Month Day-of-Month, year".
I need to go into the Desktop app (outside query editor) to get it in the "dd/mm/yyyy" format.
So if I format it to date in query editor and then format it further in the desktop app wil that model persist over multiple users?
Hi @Dirk0319,
Based on my experience, both changes(format in Query Editor and Power BI Desktop) will persist in a pbix file. And I'm unaware of such a good practice for formatting in this case. ![]()
