Published Dataset Measure Format Incorrect

Hello experts,

Created a model in desktop that contains measures that are formatted as Decimal 3 places, I employ a separate model to report methodology, so after publishing the dataset to the PBI service, and then use desktop to connect to that dataset in my workspace to create a report from, when select the measure in the Data pane it now displays as a Whole number! (greyed out of course)

Why has the published analysis services model decided to change my predetermined format?

Is there any way to regain control with this?

Thank you in advance for your viewpoints

Thanks for trying v-xinruzhu-msft;

I realise now I did not explain the situation very well, but my point was that I was creating a dataset model with pre-configured data formats against fields, and the PBI service was ignoring the settings made and simply inventing it's own field formats upon using a fresh desktop file to connect to that dataset in the service, which does not seem very good at all!

I think the best thing to do probably is to delete this post, and one day when I get the time to look into it properly I will document and re-post the same point in a structured way.

Hi @MeadowDec

It is possible that when you connect to the model from Power BI Desktop, it will be randomly converted to an integer, because you are directly connected to the Power BI dataset using the Live Connection mode, in which you cannot modify the model, if you want to modify this measure, consider downloads the PBIX file from Power BI Service and edits it.

Best Regards!
