I have seen some posts about this but they are older. I have been using Power BI for years and never had this problem but all of the sudden in the last month, this error pops up constantly: There is a problem with WebView2. My students are having the same problem. (My students in Fall 2024 and former semesters did not.) Is there some new issue? I am using this version: Version: 2.140.1577.0 64-bit (February 2025)

Thank you @parry2k for the helpful response.
This WebView2 error has recently started appearing for several users, especially with the February 2025 version of Power BI Desktop. Here are a few things you can try:
1.Download the Evergreen WebView2 Runtime (x64) from https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/, install it, then restart your PC.
2.Use the Repair option under Apps & Features, or reinstall from the official Power BI site.
3.Right-click Power BI and select Run as administrator to avoid permission issues with WebView2.
4.If urgent, consider using the January 2025 version from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-latest-update#download-previous-vers...

Hi @mopetkewi ,
It sounds like you're encountering a recent and widespread issue with WebView2 in Power BI, particularly affecting the February 2025 version.
Since both you and your students are experiencing the same error and had no such issues in previous semesters, it's likely tied to a change or bug introduced in a recent Power BI update or a compatibility problem with the WebView2 runtime itself. Microsoft has increasingly relied on WebView2 for rendering visuals and interface elements in Power BI, so if the runtime is missing, outdated, or corrupted, it can lead to persistent errors.
A good first step is to ensure that the latest WebView2 runtime is installed on all affected machines, as Power BI doesn't always install or update it automatically. You might also consider rolling back to an earlier version of Power BI that was stable for your environment until a fix is released. It's worth checking the official Power BI forums and Microsoft’s known issues list for updates, as this seems to be affecting multiple users recently.

@mopetkewi it is really strange. I know this issue was common when webview2 was introduced (I think more than a year ago) but I haven't seen this issue for a long long time. Not sure what else to suggest? Only thing comes in my mind is the windows update but seems like that is not the case here.

Hi - I can try this but what is surprising me is that I have numerous students independently reporting the same issue - we area all using different machines. I've been teaching with Power BI for years and never seen students report this issue until now.
@mopetkewi not as such, have you tried it on a different machine? Do you have all the windows updates installed?
