PowerBI - dynamic y column filtering

Hello,

I am currently tried to build a dynamic visual where you can filter by month, location and between multiple y columns

Essentially I'd like users to be able to select a month, location and then select a factor to view, i.e. Month, A, and Factor 3 and for the visual to update accordingly. I have tried field parameters but I can't quite get it to work as it groups the data based on the numeric values.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Example data set:

MonthLocationFactor 1Factor 2Factor 3Factor 4
JuneA2324
JulyB1627
AugustC4446

Hello @ICush ,

Okay do the following, create a measure for each factor column that sums it and then group them in a field parameter then try to display it, It should work like that.

Hello @ICush ,

you group these factors in a field parameter, and youadd the value of the field parameter to the y-axis.

Hello,

Thanks again, I've grouped the factors in a parameter, added it the y-axis, and whatever I put in the x-axis doesn't bring up anything in the visual. What would recommend putting in the x-axis if the parameter is in the y-axis? I think I must be missing something.

Hello @ICush ,

do you have a relationship between the tables having the values in x-axis and table having the factors ?

No this is from one table, like the one in the example - would that still work?

Hello @ICush ,

You could set this using field parameters.

Hello,

Thanks for answering, I have tried using that and keep getting stuck. Do you have a recommendation on how to build a column chart using a field parameter (containing factor 1, factor 2, factor 3, factor 4) - what would go on the y-axis?

Thanks!
