I use SSMS to run a SQL query and ensure it returns the data i want, say it takes 10 seconds to run. I then add that query to PowerBI Desktop and when I click close and apply, it takes minutes of Evaluating, and Creating Live Connections.
I don't understand how PBIDesktop can perform so poorly. I know its not my SQL being slow, due to running the query against it directly and confirming its not a long running query.
I switched over to DirectQuery instead of Import hoping this would speed up this process but it doesn't.
How can I stop PBI Desktop performing like a 25 year old 386?
Hi @leinad13, we made a bunch of performance improvements in Feb for DirectQuery, can you try again and see if anything had improved?
