Power app usage report in power bi

Hi Team,

So there is an app which is created in power apps. I need to create a dynamic report in power bi showing the usage related stats of the app. I am unable to get the data in power bi. Could you please confirm how can I bring power app usage data in power bi? I tried a lot to search but couldn't get success. My app's data is stored in dataverse but i could not get system tables which can give me the detailed data. Please assist

Hi @KKK

Power App usage data isn’t as straightforward to pull into Power BI as one might expect.

There are a few ways to go about it, but the data doesn’t come directly from Power Apps itself.

What’s worked well for me is using the Microsoft 365 Audit Logs. These logs capture activities like app launches, sharing, and access details.

You’ll need admin rights (like Global Admin or Compliance Admin) to access them. Once you run a search (filtering for Power App activities), you can export the CSV and bring that into Power BI to build a usage report.

Another route is via the Power Platform Admin Center, under Analytics ,Power Apps. It gives some built-in metrics like daily active users and sessions but it’s view-only. You can take screenshots or copy the numbers out, but it’s not super dynamic for reporting purposes.

If your app is built on Dataverse, that’s even better you can connect Power BI directly to the backend tables (like Audit or AppUsage) and build reports more freely. I’ve used this method a few times and found it reliable.

Let me know what backend your app is using Dataverse, SharePoint, etc.
