I am importing various CSV files into Power Query. When importing, I use UTF - 8 File origin. My delimiter is set to comma & I do data type detaection on the entire dataset.
My issue is that I have values like 1.06745 or 0.56356356 & others that are whole numbers like 10 or 5
Power Query detects column as text & if I try to convert to decimal number, whole number or even locale, it gives me errors wherever there is a value with a decimal in the file
How can I rectify this, as I need to be able to sum up data & cannot do this if the format is in text.
I have found solution.
Instead of changing to number type format, I changed using locale & set it to number with locale as English (US) which has resolved the issue

You can probably turn off "Automatically Detect Types" in the options menu.
Hi @Anonymous
When I import files from folder, or just a single CSV, using your options, PQ detects the numbers as decimal numbers
So I suspect that there is something up with your data in the CSV's, can you provide some sample files?
Phil

Hello. Unfortunately I am unable to upload a CSV file. If you can supply me with an email address, can send a sample file on to you
