Wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I have excel files with data I bring into Power Bi. I have about 5 different excel file data sets I am bringing in all together. When I published them they automatically show up with the Gateway button on. I cant toggle to turn it off. I don't have any gateways installed and I don't want to if I can help it.
I do have one excel file called Employee Engagement that is working without having to have a gateway. It shows up already off.
Its says all my data sources are in the cloud. My other data sources are in the cloud as well so I am not sure why they are not showing up as a way to sync without using a Gateway.
Thank you
@Anonymous are you using one drive for business or personal?

Hi @Anonymous
When you connect to a .csv file on OneDrive or SharePoint Online, a dataset is created in Power BI. Data from the .csv file is then imported into the dataset in Power BI. Power BI then automatically connects to the file and refreshes any changes with the dataset in Power BI.

Otherwise, Data Gateway is needed. The on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge to provide quick and secure data transfer between on-premises data (data that isn't in the cloud) and several Microsoft cloud services.

@Anonymous because of google sheet, try the following:
move google files to one drive, or remove these files and then test.

@Anonymous AFAIK even if you have files are on google drive, it requires a gateway. If you use One drive for business and use excel files from there, it doesn't require a gateway.

Thats what I thought, but for some reason some files that just have excel onedrive files are not letting me get around the gateway. I tried changing the names of the files, moving them to another folder and reuploading them, but it still wants a gateway from them.
Thank you parry2k. Currently, my excel docs are all in Onedrive. I do have 2 files in Google Sheets pulling into Power Bi. But even the ones that are just Excel are wanting a gateway.
