Power-Bi Desktop will not start - .net framework error

After installing SQL Express 17 and other SQL components, Power-BI Desktop throws a .net framework exception error:

The type initializer for

'Microsoft.Mashup.Client.UI.Shared.Ux.DpiSensitiveScale'

threw an exception

At which point the Power-BI Process needs to be killed

Based on various recommendations from other communities:

- Uninstalled .net framework 4.7 - now at 4.6.1

- Re-installed the latest Power-BI Personal Gateway

- Re-Installed the latest Power-BI Desktop

Nothing found in the event logs and because Power-Bi will not start, I cannot enable extended logging...

Thanx in advance for any assistance - Dave

Ok - This was my solution - I upgraded my Windows 10 to Redstone 4 (1803), the latest and greatest, or so they tell me.  I installed the June 2018 version of Power-BI Desktop and now I'm working again - however, and this may be important to other Administrators, RSAT stopped working, turns out there is a brand new RSAT just for Windows 10 (1803) - WindowsTH-RSAT_WS_1803-x64.msu - Hope this helps others...

Thanx for your input - always welcome,

Dave

Try installing the latest June-2018 version of power BI and check if issue still persists

Hi @amckind4,

You could download this tool to detects and tries to fix some frequently occurring issues with the setup of Microsoft .NET Framework or with updates to the Microsoft .NET Framework.

If you have fixed the .NET Framework, I suggest you reinstall Power BI Desktop.

Best Regards,

Cherry
