Power BI published report different from power bi desktop

Hi all,

A PBi report I had published started to have duplicated values, when should have the sum of each row.

The report is connected to another semantic model created by IT.
that IT semantic model is connected to Snowflake.

The report always working properly in the workspace. Yes, I use the correct SUMX formula.

From nothing, the version published in the workspace appears with totals in all lines when we expand the different levels, and the values are a duplicated of the total of the partent line.

It's a table with 3 levels:

Business Unit

Product

Product Code

and then I have metrics like YTD, MAT...

question is, when is the local desktop PBi version of my report works fine and then when it's publish the data is completely different.
Nothing changed, as it's an automatic report.
I have checked the regional settings and also updated to the latest PBi version, August 2024.

This is the second time it happens. The first time it happen, the issue fixed itself after some days but now has returned.

@JJPbi based on screenshots, it seems there is issue in data model even in local desktop app. It seems that values are not correct on 2nd level (when you drill down).
For each row it is showing same value so i suppose relationship is missing between specific tables.

If you do not have access to semantic model pbix file, i recommend that you contact IT in your company (who created semantic model) and tell them what you would like to show on visuals.

This doesn't solve the problem that you asked (difference between local vs published report), but i suppose it will help in solving the issue as the issue is on semantic model side.

unfortunately I don't have access to check the measures of the semantic model IT built.
but what I did, that worked was:
- optmize the measures

- start the matrix, put 1 measure, publish in the workspace to see the behaviour when publish

- repeat the previous steps until total rebuild

what I learned is that, creating your own measures and then call IT measures from the semantic model is not the best pratice.
I've tried to use as much measures from IT possible and then when I need bespoke calculation/metrics do so, otherwise, it's a no no.
Still, it's very strange the local pbi version works 100% fine and then when published, it breaks.

anyway, thank you for the help.

Hi @JJPbi ,
To confirm, you just connect your report (pbix file) to semantic model that IT team created and published to Power BI Service?
In your local pbix file report is showing correct values, but when you publish this report to Power BI Service it is showing duplicate rows or values?

If this is the case, the only thing that i can think of is if you have some kind of report/page/visual filters where you filter True/False, it might have issues on Power BI Service.
The best practice would be to have integer values like 1/0 instead of True/False when filtering on Power BI Service.

The local/desktop version is showing the correct value

I have attached a image to see it better, of the version published in the workspace.
For example, if I start expanding the different levels, what happens it that the total per product and code, will start summing the previous, like a rolling total.

Any idea? again, this is not happening in the Desktop version.
