Power BI cannot see Access Queries

Hi all,

I am trying to import two Access queries into either Power BI Desktop or Excel/Power Pivot but neither product is displaying the queries that I want to import in Navigator. Some queries are displayed but not many and not the ones that I want to use as the basis of my reporting. I can sort of grudgingly accept that Power BI/Pivot might have a problem if the Access queries have used any VBA or anything slightly off-piste like the Nz function but one of the queries that is not being displayed is very simple – a (left) join between two tables with no functions or similar being applied – the columns are just selected as-is from the source tables. As an experiment I tried to import the tables individually into Power BI. That worked – so there’s nothing wrong with the tables, the column names, the connection itself etc.

Why do the Power products only see a fraction of the queries in the Access database?  One of the often-repeated recommendations is to get your database people to prepare the data for you, as queries/views in the source database, so that the models we have to create in Power BI/Pivot can be simpler. In this instance I am in a position to do that but it hasn’t done me any good because the queries cannot be imported.

Thanks

Ian

I know this is an old thread, but I want to share my resolution for this issue.

I got this issue and tried trial error found out that, it has happened due to the join. I was trying to join the results of two queries in a single access query. but when I had split those queries into two separate access queries, then joined. it worked, now i can see all three queries in power BI
