Power BI WaterFall Sort Order

I am having difficulty finding a way to have my Quarters showing in Order for this Waterfall Chart.

I created two Data Tables for my Category and Breakdown

I created a sort order and also linked that order to the measures.

For the life of me I can not figure out how to get the Qs to line up in order.

Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Hi @Drisgoal please check the sorting on your visual itself (three dots > Sort axis > Quarter)

I did this too, it did not work.

@Drisgoal Does your sort-column for the category look similar to this?

SortKey =
SWITCH(
    TRUE(),
    'Breakdown'[Time Period] = "Q1", 2,
    'Breakdown'[Time Period] = "Q2", 3,
    'Breakdown'[Time Period] = "Q3", 4,
    'Breakdown'[Time Period] = "Q4", 5,
    'Category'[Category] = "End of Last Year", 1,
    'Category'[Category] = "Total - Current Year", 6
)

HI @Drisgoal ,

Did you create a custom sort order for your Quarters column? If yes, did you set-up sort by column on the table by Quarters column?

Something explained in the following article:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-sort-by-column#set-the-column-to-u...

I am sorry but I uploaded the file in myworkspace, and I posted the link.  Did that work?

HI @Drisgoal

I won't be able to access anything you share through Power BI service.

Can you upload the pbix file using WeTransfer and share the link here?

Hi @Drisgoal ,

Power BI only lets you sort by category or value (y-axis). The breakdown is only sorted by increasing or decreasing values. This is by design and if your requirement is to modify that and if the feature is important for your functionality Please consider sharing your suggestion in the Power BI Ideas forum
Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community
where the product team actively monitors user feedback. Ideas with strong community support are more likely to be considered for future implementation. Posting there helps ensure your request reaches the right audience and contributes to shaping the product roadmap.

Thank you
