Hello,
After using Tableau for a couple years, I am learning Power BI and wondering if there are any visuals (free or paid) that support the creation of custom data labels.
By this I mean the ability to choose what you want to display in the data labels independantly from what has been added to the Values box in Power BI.
An example:
In Tableau I have this stacked bar chart, and in addition to showing the total number of tests at the top of each bar, I've also written a calculation to bring in the percentage of the tests that were passed (passed tests are represented by the blue bar).
So far, the closest I've been able to get to replicating this type of view in Power BI, is using a Line and stacked column chart, where the data labels for the bar chart show the total of passed tests (blue bar) and failed tests (orange bar), and the data labels for the line chart show the total number of tests. It doesn't seem like there is a way to leverage a calculated field to bring in the percentage as well and display it on top of the bars.
Is there a way to do this with the built in Power BI visual types, or perhaps with an add-on visual type?
Thank you

hi, I uploaded the steps:
1) download the custom Visual
2) Use it in a chart and customize it by clicking on the pencil in the top right corner and then add Text as explained on the image below:
Yes, there is (not so cutomizable like Tableau): "Infographic"...you've to add "Text" then link your measure withthe text inside
Thanks alecade91, do you think you could explain your suggestion a little more? Do you have any links to examples of this?

It seems like options to position the labels nicely are limited, but it's nice to know I have a workaround in a pinch. Thanks for this!
HI @MarlonK,
I'd like to suggest you click on the model icon to enter to 'relationship and model' view, then you can try to modify the formatting option of that field to custom with your format to confirm if it works.

@MarlonK currently you cannot add custom data labels, you best option is to create a measure and add as a tooltip or create a custom page for tooltips, at the end, tooltip is your only option.

Thanks Parry2k,
Could you explain a little more about what you mean by "create a custom page for tooltips"?
My understanding of tooltips in Power BI is that they are basically the same as in Tableau, where you can only see them when hovering on a visual. The data labels I want to show would need to be seen in a non-interactive presentation such as a PDF or PowerPoint deck, so tooltips as I understand them wouldn't help.
Does the "create a custom page for tooltips" idea you mentioned accomplish this somehow?
Thanks again
@MarlonK check this page, hope it helps
