This is driving me mad: After hours of testing any variation I am still getting errors: I am working with two SQL server databases that use the same database authenticated user. After clicking on the properties of the "source" in power query and using correct database user credentials I am getting User not authorized although credentials are 100% correct. The saved credentials in "Options and settings" are also correct. any ideas?
@karaoan - So, are you saying that it is working for one SQL server database but not the other?
Thanks for trying to help @Greg_Deckler! After looking at this some more I think my problem is more related to changing the "navigation" option switching between one db and the other (they are both on the same sql server) but that doesn't seem to be easily supported by Power BI. It looks I have to change the query string with the "Advanced Editor" as it seems if you don't do that, the problem occurs.
I have experimented some more around this: http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Simplifying-using-same-dashboard-pbix-file-with-different/m-...
but I keep getting into the same problem with incorrect authentication refusal....
I suggest you now contact support.

Have you tried deleting the stored credentials completely and trying again? How about trying to connect to the DB from Excel as a point of reference? All I can suggest is to try to eliminate one thing at a time, starting clean from some other system. I would do
different system to confirm it works
possibly power BI Desktop on another computer with a clean workbook
another machine with the problem workbook etc
...until you work out what is wrong
very frustrating, I'm sure.
