Power BI Desktop getting Json error when loading data

Dear Power BI Users,

We are about to release Version: 2.124.1960.0 64-bit (January 2024) of Power BI Desktop on-premise. However, we encounter the following error when attempting to load a source using JSON.

The path to the source is accessible, as I can retrieve the data using a browser, and it works properly with the older version of Power BI Desktop.

What could be causing this issue?

Best regards,

Hi @OCW-APM ,

Based on the error message you've provided, it seems like Power BI is encountering unexpected characters in your JSON input, specifically beyond what it considers the end of the JSON data. This type of error often occurs due to formatting issues within the JSON file itself, such as trailing commas, unescaped characters, or additional text after the JSON object closure.
To this I can only offer you some possible suggestions, for example:
Use a JSON validator tool to check if your JSON file is correctly formatted. This can help identify any syntax errors that might be causing the issue.
Look at the position indicated in the error message (Position=4). There might be unexpected characters or syntax issues near this location.
Try loading a very simple JSON file to see if the issue persists. If the simple file works, the problem is likely related to the specific content or structure of your original JSON file.

In addition I found some links where the same question as yours appears. Perhaps you can find the answer in those links:
Excel - We found extra characters at the end of JSON input - Stack Overflow
Solved: Data Format .Error: We found extra characters at t... - Microsoft Fabric Community
Solved: JSON Parsing Issue - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

Hi @OCW-APM ,

I think you forgot to attach the error message or screenshot? I can't see your error message on my end.
