Plotting an instantly changing status value (plot line with only vertical slope)

Hi all,

I would like to create a plot that displays the status of a device over time. The device sends updates containing its current status at random moments. A simple sample would look like this (mm:dd:yyyy: hh:mm:ss | value):

01-02-2022: 14:09:68 | 800

01-04-2022: 20:06:01 | 300

01-12-2022: 01:01:57 | 750

Since the status updates are instant changes, I would like to see that the plot contains only straight horizontal lines between the data points (so no slopes) and only vertical lines exactly on the X line of these datapoints (representing the instant change). Please excuse my drawing skills, but the graph should thus look somewhat like this:

I cannot find a way to achieve this in PowerBI. Using a line diagram with timestamp on the X axis and the value on Y, while enabling 'interval' under the lines' shape settings somewhat gets me in the right direction, but the problem then is that the vertical lines are in the middle between two datapoints' X values, while they should be exactly on the X value of the datapoint (because the increase/decrease happens at exactly that moment). I am not sure what to search for in order to find a solution. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @fabero ,

Turn on Stepped as the following screenshot:

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the 'Stepped' option, but unfortunately this does not produce the desired result. The problem is that this function creates a graph in which the increase and decline are placed in between the x coordinates of two datapoints, while this should happen exactly on top of these x coordinates (since the y value changes exactly at that moment and not somewhere else). Is there any other option to achieve this?
