Hi Team,
I am exploring the Power BI for the development of reports but I am struck at a very minute point i.e. Implementation of the Parent-Child Hierarchy.
I have the departments with me such as F1 which is the parent and child departments such as F1.1,F1.2,F1.3 and F1.4. Now the requirement is that if I select the "F1" in the data slicer for F1 then my data should also include the results for F1, F1.1,F1.2,F1.3 and F1.4.
So, in reports the "F1" selection should combine the enitre data for child also.
Could you please assist me in achieving it.
Thanks in advance,
Anmol

Hi @anmsharma,
I add a similar problem in my reports the solution I made was a new column with the grouping I needed, so taking into account your information I would extract the first 2 carachters from each of your lines and make it a "parent".
Would be something like this:
Parent | Child | Description |
F1 | F1 | General Managment |
F1 | F1.1 | General Managment |
F1 | F1.2 | Managment Comité |
F1 | F1.3 | General Managment Administration |
F1 | F1.4 | Others |
This way you could use the Parent in your visuals / Formulas.

Check out my blog: Power BI em PortuguêsHI @anmsharma,
Ad a column with a lookupvalue:
Parent_Name = LOOKUPVALUE(Table1[Description],Table1[Child],Table1[Parent])
Result should be this:

Check out my blog: Power BI em PortuguêsHi @MFelix,
Many Thanks for your help, it worked just perfectly for me.
Another minute stuff which I have is that, in the Description I am supposed to display only the "Description of Parent".
for e.g. F1.2 should display the Description of Parent F1 only.
Thanks again,
Anmol
