Parameter is not working in the Conditional Column

Hi Team,

I have created a new parameter in Power Query to select the date from the list of dates.

I was trying to use it in the conditional column to compare the date range.
If I select it in the Value I am unable to select it in the drop down.

But i can see the option in the output. Any reason why this is not working?

It sounds like you've created a parameter in Power Query and you're trying to use it in a conditional column but encountering issues with selecting it. There could be a few reasons why you're experiencing this problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps to consider:

  1. Data Types: Ensure that the data type of your parameter matches the data type of the column you are trying to compare it with in the conditional column. For example, if your parameter is of type Date, make sure that the column you're comparing it to is also of type Date.

  2. Scope: Check if the parameter is defined in the correct scope. Parameters can be created at different levels, such as at the report, table, or query level. Make sure the parameter is defined in a scope that is accessible from the conditional column.

  3. Parameter Visibility: Ensure that the parameter is set to be visible in the user interface. In Power Query, you can set a parameter to be either hidden or visible. If it's hidden, it won't appear in the dropdown list of available values.

  4. Data Load: Verify that your query with the parameter is loaded into the Power BI data model. If the query is not loaded, the parameter might not be available for use in other queries or steps.

  5. Case Sensitivity: Check for case sensitivity issues. Parameter names and references are case-sensitive in Power Query. Make sure that the parameter name you are using in the conditional column matches the case exactly.

  6. Error Messages: Look for any error messages or warnings in the Power Query editor that might provide more information about the issue.

  7. Query Dependencies: Ensure that there are no circular dependencies or conflicting steps in your query that could be causing the issue. Review the query dependencies to make sure everything is in order.

  8. Power Query Version: Check if you are using the latest version of Power Query. Sometimes, updating to the latest version can resolve compatibility issues.

If you've checked all of the above and are still facing issues, it might be helpful to provide more specific details about your Power Query setup and the steps you're taking so that further assistance can be provided. Additionally, reviewing the error messages or warnings, if any, can often give valuable clues about what might be causing the problem.
