PBI Destop Connect To SSAS Cube Problem

Hi Everyone,

There are quesions about PBI Destop connect to SSAS Cube.

It's OK to using Excel linked SSAS Cube with AD account, but same account is show "Cannot Load Model" in PBI Destop.

The AD authentication isn't change also.

You need to distinguish between

- a true SSAS cube on premise

- a true SSAS cube in Azure

- a Power BI Semantic Model

(and maybe a SSAS Tabular if you dabbled in that).

They all need different authentication methods, and prefer slightly different techniques. OLAP cubes talk MDX natively, SSAS Tabular talk DAX natively.

Connecting to a cube in order to extract data from it is technically possible but it very much negates the primary benefit of a cube.

Note: Once you specified a credential type it will be cached in Power BI Desktop. If you chose the wrong type then that will "stick"  until you clear the permissions for that connection.

I change to use SQL authentication than it's OK.
So maybe soemthing wrong with my AD setting, thanks you anyway.
