Organize calculation group in tabular model to include measures inside calculation group

As described in my title:

When connecting to the model I I see my measure and calculation group together, I even made a display folder for them.

However, when connecting to the tabular model using Excel, it splits the measure from the Calculation Group.

Seems like it doesn't like measures inside calculation group.

Even though it's working just fine in PBI.

Is there a solution?

Hi @Yuhnstar_RU,

We appreciate your inquiry on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, there is a distinction in the handling of calculation groups in Power BI and Excel:

  1. Power BI allows measures and calculation groups to be displayed together within a display folder, ensuring a well-organized and structured view of your model.

  2. Excel, however, does not support the organization of calculation groups and measures within the same display folder. Instead, calculation groups always appear in a separate section within the Pivot Table Fields pane, while measures remain under their respective tables but outside the calculation group. This is because Excel treats calculation groups as distinct entities, unlike normal measure tables.

  3. Calculation groups in a Tabular Model are designed to dynamically apply transformations to multiple measures. However, when accessing the model in Excel, measures are treated as standalone objects, while calculation groups function as modifiers. This leads to a separation in their display within Excel.

This difference explains why measures and calculation groups appear together in Power BI but are displayed separately in Excel.
