October 2023 Desktop Version prompts for sign-in then crashes

Hi-

With the release of Power BI Desktop October 2023, staff across our organization (including myself) are getting prompted to login after opening PBI desktop.  If I choose the default "Use this Account", PBI crashes.  The only workaround is to choose "Work or school account" and login with O365 credentials.  None of this makes sense as I'm already showing as logged in on the toolbar in the upper right of PBI desktop.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  Is there a portal configuration needed?  All staff have a PBI Pro license and we are in a GCC tenant.  Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I still have problems, already deleted power bi desktop, restart my computer and installed in again from the microsoft store... It worked for a couple of weeks but now I can't even open power bi desktop... the login promt comes twice and then crashes...
I hope I can find the september version of Power BI to help me quickly and hope microsoft has a solution for this...

Same issue here, the fix works with most users in our environment but some do not.  We are reverting back to the Sept version.  Hopefully, MS will have a fix in a week or 2...

I'm having similar problems. It did allow me to sign in after first opening the report but it prompts for sign in when I click on the tool bar, then crashes soon after that.

I've tried this fix, but it doesn't seem to be saving the changes when I change anything in the Settings.

That fixed it for me (a GCC user, BTW).

Thanks!

the problem stopped when I disable the save to OneDrive and Sharepoint feature AND the sign in experience

Thx!

Thanks for the reply.  While this option suppresses the login, when I try to open an existing file, PBI Desktop simply terminates and closes.  It takes 3-4 attempts to open a file before it actually will stay open.  I've tried on multiple files, same issue.

big thanks!

Hi,

Same issue here. I'm using MFA with microsoft authenticator. PBI desktop prompts me 3 times at least and then crashed after I clicked continue with my work account.

I can't work with PBI in this release....
