Hi
I am trying to test some very basic object level security. I have created report that is connected to an Excel file containing 2 columns. I have created an object level security role to hide the second column using Tabular Editor 3. In Power BI Desktop, when I select the "View as" option for the role that has just been created, I get the following error message.
I'm not sure what could be causing this error. Has anyone encountered this error before or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hi @ChrisOBrien ,
Refer this document, the Excel data type library does not support configuring the semantic model of OLS.
You can configure OLS with a different data source.

I have the same issue and my model does not fall under any of the above restrictions. Infact my model does not have a single Direct Query table, they are all Import Mode.
Possible Fix:
As a test, I created a Data model and created an OLS Role first , assigned it to a dummay column (table created using Enter Data). Tested OLS and it works fine.
Then I loaded my actual Data from different source, apply OLS on columns to be hidden and NO MORE ERROR! Now I need to copy all my vsuals from other PBIX, bookmarks and all.. ITS A NIGHTMARE.
Please help figure out the issue. We need to perform this for several of our existing reports.
