When using Power BI, occasionally a graph or chart does not load (can’t display the visual) with the error OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] PostgreSQL: Exception while reading from stream.
Hi all,
We are using PostgreSQL as a data source and Power BI connects to it via PGBouncer. After looking at PGBouncer logs and searching for similar issues, I’ve discovered that there are certain issues with Npgsql (a .NET driver for PostgreSQL, which I assume is being used by Power BI under the hood) and PGBouncer. The Github issue is https://github.com/pgbouncer/pgbouncer/issues/714. And the documentation for PGBouncer issues can be found in https://www.npgsql.org/doc/compatibility.html#pgbouncer.
From the documentation and the linked Github issue, a solution to this could be disabling Npgsql’s internal pooling. However, I have not been able to figure how to do this via Power BI connection settings.
Please advise me on the same.
Thanks
