Number formatting changes after Power BI Update March 2021

1.  If you want to display a negative value in brackets (parentheses), as most accountants and financial people do, you have two choices.
2.  You can create a format, e.g. £ ##,##0; (£ ##,##0); or you can use the DAX Format command.
3. DAX Format turns the number into text and so we create the format code.
4. After the March 2021 update, our formats were corrupted and turned into something like \£\#\#\,\# etc.
   
   
5. Does anyone know why this happens and how can I prevent it? Using DAX Format is not an option.
6. Also why doesn't Microsoft just provide the alternative format type?

Sorry, but I do not think I have explained my problem clealry.

I wrote my report in January 2021 using the £ ##,##0; (£ ##,##0); formatting. Updating to the March 2021 version caused the problem . ie \£\#\#\,\# etc.

I then had to fix the formatting in all of the measures effected.

Imagine if we had 20 reports using this format. Do we need to check everyone after an update?

The best answer would be for Microsoft to provide the relevant format as standard.

Based on your description, I did a test. 

The "value" column is the one that I have changed its number formatting. It seems no error. Is the the following result what you want?

My Power BI Desktop version is 2.91.884.0 64-bit (March 2021).

Maybe you can update the latest version and try it again.
