Null values instead of Append Changes to Existing Text when importing from SharePoint list

Hi,

In a SharePoint list that i am importing into desktop, i have a column that is entitled 'Progress Updates' and is a multi line of text field that has the functionality 'Append Changes to Existing Text' is checked.  This is being imported as a 'Null' value and no matter if i change it to Plain Text, Rich text or HTML it always outputs as Null - how to i extract the data?  I would like to pin a table with headers that include this column.

Many thanks

Anna

Hello,

Was any solution provided to this issue?

I have the same issue and would like to pulll through the text from a column called 'Current Position' where versioning and 'apend changes to existing text is enabled'.

I thought I had it working, however, when I updated the column with an update of progress the data being pulled through into PowerBI cleared itself.

Hi @Funkyaj1971

Pls refer to the blog below to check whether it would help:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46925600/why-does-power-bi-table-shows-this-table-is-empty-when-...

Here is the reference about connecting the data on sharepoint list.

Kelly

@Anonymous Thank you for your response however the connection to the SP list is working as all other data in the list is being imported correctly and I have a working report.  The only column that is not importing the data correctly is the one that is a multiple lines of text with the append changes to existing text enabled.

i think you need to read through this thread, i dont think that the version history is kept in the same table

@vanessafvg if you mean when importing the data from source, no.  The column is full of 'null' values, is there something i am missing at the SP side?

it doesn't sound like you connecting to what you are looking for, because you aren't seeing your data, have yo tested this data before, is it definitely sitting in that column?

@vanessafvg

all other data is being exported as expected.  I had already modelled my data and created a report and dashboard - but realised i wanted to add this.  I have just tried to export from SP and have the same issue - the column is there with no values.

maybe it isn't being populated? doesn't sound like it
