Not able to convert a live-connection model to directquery

Hi all,

Could you please tell me what makes a live-connection dataset not able to be converted to directQuery?

I have the option below enabled, but nothing has changed. Thank you!

Hi all, the reason is the data source I'm using.

Datasets with data source from SQL Analysis Service cannot be converted to a composite model.

@ROG,

The approach I use is to load Power Query (click Transform Data), and then close Power Query. This triggers the conversion to DirectQuery.

Thanks @DataInsights  This option is greyed out.
I don't think I can revert it, but wuould like to know why.

@ROG,

Did you restart Power BI Desktop after enabling the Preview feature? I'm not sure why Transform Data is greyed out. You could try Enter Data and create a table in order to load Power Query (delete this table after converting to DirectQuery).

@DataInsights  Thanks! Appreciate your support.
The preview feature was always enabled. Get data is also greyed out. I tried to create a new dataset with the excel file imported from sharepoint, and then tried to import the live connection dataset, but's not working also. I've spoke with Microsoft and all they asked me to do was enable the preview feature, which is already enable. I have restart pbi desktop several time, but no luck.

@ROG,

You could try uninstalling/reinstalling Power BI Desktop. Also, you could try importing the Excel file first, and then connecting to the published dataset.

I've also tried that. I have a call Microsoft to investigate it further. Thanks a lot @DataInsights !
